Ever since I was a young boy, I have had a deep interest in politics and social issues by virtue of the prolific intelligence and curiousity of my mother, Doris. As a child of the Great Depression, she received a high school graduate in a small farming community in central Missouri; she always dreamed of going to college, and traveling around this wonderful planet. She was never able to achieve the former; however, through hard work and frugal habits, she has seen more of the world than most people ever dream of in a lifetime. For her, there have always been two worlds full of mystery and wonder; that of the human mind, and that of the Universe. Her example led me to pursue the study of politics and economics in my undergraduate studies, followed by completion of my academic goals in receiving a law degree. Throughout it all, my love of science and philosophy was further enriched by other courses and elected to take. I was also inspired years ago by my from favorite businessman - Malcom Forbes - who labeled himself "The Happy Capitalist". Malcom is certainly turning over in his grave, given all that has transpired in the world of business and money these past few decades. True Capitalism is a long-forgotten, diluted theory of economics, pirated away by men who would distort the truth in order to steal the dreams of honest, hard-working people like my mother. Nevertheless, I take inspiration from both Malcom and my mother by paying daily homage to Forbes" own words of wisdom: "Of all thy getting, get understanding." Thus my drive to read, research, understand, and write. I hope their inspiration is vicariously passed along to the readers of this blog through my daily pursuit of knowledge and understanding in a world so fraught with deception and lies.
